The Grayter Guide to Lettering

with Elizabeth GrayAbout this class
I'm SO excited to have all of you join me (and each other!) as we start this creative journey! Three years ago, I decided to teach myself to be a lettering artist. I had no design degree or art school experience, so I had to do a ridiculous amount of research and learn everything the hard way. It wasn't easy, and I want to make your artistic journey easier by wrapping up everything you need to get started (and what I wish I had back then!) in this class. I'll teach you how letters are constructed, go through essential design principles, and help you turn words into works of art. Whether you're a complete beginner or just want to take your lettering skills from basic to so-much-better, this class will give you the tools to turn inspiration, mood and a lot of practice into something awesome.

Hi y’all! I’m Elizabeth Gray, better known around the internet as @thegraytergood. I am an artist/creative person with a focus on hand-drawn letters, or ‘hand-lettering’. I’m an introvert who isn’t afraid to admit that I struggle with ‘people-ing’, and when I started using art to express myself, I found that people all over the world were drawn to that kind of honesty. That humor and openness has become an integral part of my artistic voice, and I’ve created fun, custom lettering for big brands, small restaurants, special events, and everything in between. My style of work is usually characterized by the use of a monochromatic color palette and is always detailed, playful, and legible.
